The Disappearance of Rachael Garden

On a spring day in 1980, Rachael Garden was walking from a corner market to a friend's home in Newton, New Hampshire but never arrived. Over 30 years later, she has never been found. Where is Rachael Garden? Rachael was the oldest of four children and usually ended up babysitting her siblings. The 15 year-old was a freshman in high school and was known for being outspoken and friendly. Rachael was known to be rebellious at times. She was known to occasionally skip school to smoke, drink and hang out with friends in the woods off of Maple Avenue. She was also vocal about not liking her parents rules or having to watch her siblings regularly.  The night Rachael Garden disappeared, she was carrying her dark blue tote bag with "Things" printed on it into Rowe's corner market. Peter Jewett, the owner of Rowe's, said that she bought a pack of cigarettes before leaving the shop and headed toward Maple Avenue. She never made it to her friend's home or back to her ho

The Murder of Thelma Mooney

Ironton, Ohio is a town of about 10,500 people. In 2007, the murder of Thelma Mooney rocked the community. The 83 year old mother and grandmother was brutally stabbed in her own home.  A Tragic Discovery The night if February 17th, Thelma Mooney heard someone knocking at her front. This startled her so much that she called her son. Her son, Dan, who walked over with his teenage daughter, Lindsey. The pair came inside and notes that Thelma was visibly nervous. However, when everything was checked out and seemed to be fine. What was unusual, as they excited the home, Thelma locked the door right away. She had always waited until her family was on the sidewalk every other time.  The next morning, a neighbor called Ron because Thelma's porch light was still on and her newspaper was in the driveway. This was very unusual for her.  Lindsey immediately ran to her grandmother's home. She had had trouble sleeping the night before worried about Thelma. She had begged to spend the night b

The Disappearance of Keaisha Hayes-Prater

Sometime in the summer of 2019 was the last time 13 year-old Keaisha Hayes-Prater was seen. Very little information is out there regarding her disappearance due to the lack of media coverage for people of color .  Keaisha is a 13 year-old African American girl who stands 5'0" and weighs approximately 130 pounds. The brown haired, brown eyed teen is listed with a date missing as May 3, July 25, and August 23, 2019 from 3 different sources. Columbus, Ohio Police believe that she may still be in the area, but have no theories as to what happened to Keaisha.  I was unable to find ANY other information regarding her disappearance. There is a large disparity in the coverage of cases of missing and murdered women of color in the media.  We need to highlight these cases and continue to bring awareness to them. If you have a case that fits into this category, please send me an email at  and I will make a post regarding it no matter how little information
