The Disappearance of Alyssa McLemore
In Kent, Washington, April 9, 2009 Alyssa McLemore vanished without a trace. Even 10 years later, we are left with more questions than answers. Where is Alyssa McLemore?
Who is Alyssa?Alyssa McLemore was 21 at the time she disappeared. She is of Native American and African American descent and has a scar on her abdomen. Alyssa has been described as fun-loving, happy, and close to her family. In addition, Alyssa was a devoted mother to her young daughter.
Alyssa lived with her grandmother and mother. Her mother was battling Scleroderma. She was one of her mother's caretakers. It was very unusual for her to go so long without contacting family. Meanwhile, her mother's condition continued to worsen.
Doesn't sound like someone who would just take off, right?
What Happened the Day She DisappearedAlyssa received a call from her grandmother that her mother was doing worse. This was around 6:30 PM on April 9th. She told her grandmother that she would home. Unfortunately, this was the last time her grandmother would speak with her. She was seen near 30th Avenue South and Kent-Des Moines Road when she was approached by a 90's model green pick up truck. At the time, the witness felt like they were familiar with each other. The man in the truck was approximately 50-60 years old, around 5'8, and 180lbs.
On April 10th around 9 am, a 911 call was placed from Alyssa's phone. However, before the line went dead, dispatcher could hear a woman screaming for help before. No GPS information could be obtained since Alyssa's phone did not have GPS capabilities.
Although, authorities believe that the call was made from the Kent area. The phone was out of service within a few days of her disappearance. So, at the time of her disappearance, she had left her 3 year old daughter with her father.
In addition to leaving a daughter behind, McLemore's mother passed away 3 days after her disappearance. In reality, with these events, it is hard for the family to believe she wouldn't have contacted them.
And the Case Goes ColdUnfortunately, this is the pertinent information on the case. Alyssa McLemore's family has done their best to keep the story in the news. Above all, they have not given up hope of finding her, dead or alive. No further sightings have been reported.
Again, we are dealing with a missing, possibly, murdered indigenous woman. To sum it up, the statistics are not great. The family believes that someone out there holds the key to this mystery.
